I have been waiting for months for this day. I’m ready to fire up my Xbox to get the new Xbox experience (known simply as ‘NXE’) and move towards my freedom from cable.
As I read with excitement on Lifehacker how thousands of users are getting their updated, I noticed some users complaining about missing titles on the Netflix streaming service.
It looks like all Sony titles our not included on the service.
Upon further investigation, I found this post on the Netflix blog where they confirm they have an issue with some titles being streamed to Xbox. These titles stream fine on PCs and other platforms, but not on Xbox.
Today, titles regularly come in and out of license and there is a natural ebb and flow to what we have on license at any given point in time. In the case of Xbox 360, a few hundred titles are temporarily unavailable to be streamed via the Xbox game console.
If this is indeed Sony as a corporation blocking its content specifically for the Xbox console, it would really leave a sour feeling on thousands of its own customers who use other of their products and at this day and age seems like a very dumb move in my opinion.
Updates: Engadget did mention last night that indeed Sony titles weren’t being made available. The Motley Fool says this issue “isn’t personal. It’s just business.”
