One thing that struck me, you being the first to actually join, is that I found it hard to visit your site from the gadget. Perhaps I'm not seeing it, perhaps it's not there. Surely you're right in saying that it seems rushed indeed, perhaps by both services. It'll remain interesting to see what's up next.

I saw the Google Friend Connect on your site and I agree. What now? I joined your site, but I can't do anything else. Am I subscribed to it? No. The only cool thing is that:

a) People can possibly befriend me by clicking on my profile.
b) You might get some cross promotion by people who see my profile and see the sites I've joined.

Feels like Google needs to put some more work on this. It feels rushed and more like a response to Facebook than anything else.

I've activated Google Friend Connect and put the box on the blog. But yes: now what?

I'm part thinking it'll go the way of previous, similar additions (like chat with me, find me here or there, BlogLog and Comment System XYZ)...

But I'm also hoping this service - or Facebook's - will somehow bring the blog back from the island it's starting to get shipwrecked on.

Once we thought that with comments and RSS we'd nailed it: a blog is not a static website! But social networks have proved us wrong. This may change that yet again.

One thing though: I haven't tried FBC yet, but I am missing it here on your blog. What do I do, where do I find you, can I login or share anything to Facebook from JungleG yet?

That's not criticism though. I noticed that CNet didn't have it either. Let's just see where this takes us and how much this will become a marketing tool rather than an ID tool...
